![]() Actually, it's not. The networks have typically owned the rights to the Woodford and Manhattan but elected not to show them, resulting in a TV blackout for the races. If they aren't going to show them, don't buy the rights to the races and let someone else air them.

And how does this weak explanation, even if correct, make the complaint "tired"? Damn those racing fans/bettors who actually want to watch two of the typically six most important grass races contested in North America on an annual basis. |

![]() Yeah, it's sort of like an Irish Pub telling their regulars that they can't have beer between 4:00 and 5:00 PM on St. Patrick's Day so they can accomodate the scores of college kids that are there for one day and never come back.

![]() Most horseplayers and hardcore fans are at the track or the OTB anyway.

![]() If Justin's explanation is the real reason, then I think the networks should still show the Woodford. Anyone who watches a grass race and thinks it's the Kentucky Derby doesn't deserve to watch the Derby anyway.

![]() I'm thinkin that not too many completely clueless fans actually watch unless they are watching with somone who can at least advise them which race is actually the Derby.
