1989 Preakness?
Steve,
In anticipation of Saturday, is there anyone you could have on about the 1989 Preakness? That was one of the best races I've ever seen -- Sunday Silence and Easy Goer dueling in the stretch, down to a nose at the wire... Joe |

If I had to pick one and only ONE race that was the most exciting - it would be the 1989 Preakness.
Those two horses were superimposed over one another a stride before the wire. I treasure the coffee mug that I've had for gawd knows how long with that photo on it.

I don't remember, but it was soon after the race well over 20 years ago.
You can tell by the dings on the thing that it's been around a while.

I was at the 1989 Preakness, what was wierd about that race was the fact that a young Pat Val. put Pat "wait all" Day against the rail and made Easy Goer become one pace down the stretch. What is an amazing fact most people don't know.... the race caller at the track that year was; Trevor Denman! Because the Maryland tracks was in the middle of a search for a new race caller.
