Frank is quite a guy . They screw up the new track at SA so he says ... the heck with it, I'll create a new surface myself .

My favorite idea was that quadsuperfectaexpealidocious wager. Hit the super in four straight races! Come to think of it, the way California racing is going, hitting four straight supers in 6 horses fields isn't impossible. |

Great idea . The lotteries are killing handle Frank says, so have a lottery based on horse racing that no one can ever win . Think of all the revenue and purse increases that would result . Frank wants a horse racing lottery with a quik pik option with jackpots over $20,000,000 . He says the lottery players want the big numbers not $2.10 to win .

Sand can be made of many different materials, but what we know as sand in the US is normally predominantly Silica.
The reason Silica is used is that it is harder and doesn't break down into finer particles as easily. Finer particles pack down and compact and get hard easier. Most tracks in the US (synthetic or "dirt") are made of a mixture of 75-85% sand along with clay, silt, loam, (and in the case of synthetics) other "stuff". I believe the nylon he's talking about will be used as a screen to keep the top layer(s) of the track from getting into the bigger crushed stone and drains. On paper this could work, but on paper synthetics do, too.

Oak Tree eyes Del Mar meet in 2011
The Oak Tree Racing Association will seek to run its meet at Del Mar in 2011, Oak Tree board member John Barr said Wednesday, a day after Santa Anita owner Frank Stronach said he won't offer Oak Tree a lease after this year.
"Mr. Stronach does not want us there in the future," Barr said. "We don't have any hope we will be there beyond 2010. We can concentrate going to Del Mar and working out an agreement with them." http://drf.com/news/article/114120.html |
