Schvaneveldt on life support
By Steve Andersen Blane Schvaneveldt, the legendary Quarter Horse trainer, was on life support at a Los Alamitos, Calif., hospital early Sunday afternoon. The 76-year-old trainer was hospitalized Friday after showing signs of distress. He was later diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia, according to a statement released by Los Alamitos publicity on behalf of the trainer's family. Schvaneveldt is the all-time leading trainer at Los Alamitos, with 3,982 victories and 38 training titles. Over the years, he has won many of the track's major stakes multiple times, including an astonishing nine runnings of the Champion of Champions, the annual year-end race that plays a pivotal role in the World Champion voting. He has trained such well known champions as Refrigerator, First Down Dash, Cash Rate, Town Policy and Dash for Speed.

Oh wow....
Good wishes and prayers out to Blane and his family. I have seen him interviewed on TVG, he seems like a really wonderful man, and he is a great trainer.
