But shopping in another state to avoid a higher home state sales tax, and pay a lower sales tax, is okay.

Kerry never has seen a tax he didn't like or vote for. Of course those taxes are meant for 'other' people not him and his. Similar to when Al Gore was giving a speech in NYC on global warming while his empty mansion was lit up and the fountains were on. Or when Roland Burris after supporting the gun ban in private homes 'forgot' he had a gun. Or when the Obama administration, pushing for cap and trade to suppress carbon admissions flew an empty Air Force One over the NYC skyline for a PHOTO OP.

HYPOCRITES

It happens on the right as well but seems much more humorous when the ‘party for the common man, legal or illegal’ does it.

It would seem that when it comes to his own wallet, Kerry disagrees. Not illegal, certainly, but every bit of the hypocrisy and deceit that defines many modern politicians. He is not above it, and is as slimy as the rest of them.

Just curious is Union County still a dry country?' I was there years about 13 years and was going to wait for Sunday to buy some refreshments for Super Bowl Sunday then was told if I didn't get them on Saturday I was out of luck.

no

liquor stores have been there for years, and of course, they finally got a few restaurants that serve alcohol. it took some doing, at first they had to claim they were a 'club' and you had to buy a membership. that's no longer the case. not sure tho about sunday sales there. i know parts of LA still have blue laws. it's really ridiculous.

Sen. Kerry to pay Mass. tax on yacht docked in RI
By GLEN JOHNSON (AP) – 2 hours ago

BOSTON — Sen. John Kerry moved to end a controversy over his decision to base his new $7 million yacht in tax-free Rhode Island, informing the Massachusetts Department of Revenue on Tuesday that he would "promptly" pay taxes as if the vessel were docked in his home state.

the people spoke, and he listened. good! so glad the news broke on this last week; i really think the story getting out and causing such an uproar is why he's now paying. but, he's paying, and that's the most important part.

Massachusetts, don't believe it until you have the check in your hands. Remember, he said he would sign Form 180 too.

Everyone that voted against the Bush tax cuts should have shown the courage of their convinctions and paid the higher tax rate.

Only doing what is required by law (when you get caught) seems hypocritical.

Is he bringing the $7 million dollar yacht back to Mass or leaving it in RI. The tax paid is a pittance to the dollars lost on staffing and upkeep of a $7 million dollar yacht. And why would some people be so naive to think a man who married a woman who can afford a $7 million dollar yacht would have their best interests at heart?

Hope I guess?

Bet the crew is from and paid in FL (no taxes). oCaptain is pulling down 100K plus easy. On my local lake a Cobalt over 23' is huge and a 100K, this thing is 70 of those. I'm sure we'll find out who (LLC) owns it and where they are based. Surprised it hasn't come out yet but Aruba is slow on paper work and that whole Natalie thing.

Hope Riot isn't too pissed at him for putting his tail between his legs.

it's clear point llc, which is actually owned by heinz. like i said the other day, i think they had it purchased under that name to 'hide' it. but in this day and age, good luck with that.

no doubt biden is proud of kerry for doing his patriotic duty.

Actually, I am Any self-respecting R would have told everyone to GFY

The yacht is in the wife's LLC (it's her yacht), there is a prenupe that all their stuff stays separate. That's been in the news. No "hiding".
