Default Big crossroads race at Monmouth

I Want Revenge and Redding Colliery meet up in the Iselin.

These are two horses with very high upside - but can't be fully trusted unless they deliver something Saturday.

Redding Colliery obliterated next out Hollywood Gold Cup winner Awesome Gem last out ... the Beyer came back 111 and it's a number I trust based on the days other route.

They gave RC almost three months off to avoid "the bounce" (rolly eyes thingy) and he brings four straight bullets into this. A repeat makes him very dangerous for the BC Classic.

I Want Revenge had every reason not to run well last time - he merely ran so-so. Reportedly looked great on Dutrow's big AM workout preview day. Every reason to improve into this - and if he doesn't... forget about him for the Classic.

You can pretty much trust Devil May Care and Blind Luck firing - and you pretty much know what those two horses are - that's a better race, but this is the one I'm looking forward to.

How well can they be doing if neither connection went into the Whitney or are heading to the Woodward? I suppose a prep for the JCGC?

I agree, both have a lot to prove here. I much prefer Redding Colliery even though we've been treated to mixed messages from the barn for the last few months. First he had a lot taken out of him by the ship, then he was doing great prior to the Whitney, then they were waiting on the weight assignments, then he was out.

As far as I Want Revenge, he certainly needed the race but the horses who have run back out of the Suburban (Unbridled Danger notwithstanding) have looked very sluggish. I expect Redding Colliery to win and look good doing it.

RC is a horse you can't trust until he does it again - and this is a logical spot for IWR.

I don't think it's a negative for either horse to be in this spot.

I'm thrilled Redding Colliery is doing well. I picked him to win the three times he ran in Dubai (or maybe just two times...no PPs at the moment) based on his breeding, but ran into the Godolphin buzzsaw of Regal Ransom and Desert Party. Glad he found Lasix.
