It was impressive!!
I think this may be the first Zito debut winner since War Pass. Speed horses finished up 2nd and 3rd....so the race didn't just fall apart for him. The word was out on him....Couldn't get over the early action he was taking for Zito who is usually auto-toss first out. P.S. The Last race had 2 nice one run 1-2 also. I'm looking forward to the Maker/Twin creeks Ghostzapper stretching out at the end of the meet. |

This was his 12th FTS winner since War Pass, but his numbers are pretty low.

I know Anak Nakal is one....as he and Da'Tara ran 1-2 as an entry at 17:1 ( and I scored ).
12 isn't exactly a lot in three plus years.

The thing I noticed was how much LaPenta spent for a Mineshaft yearling....475k
He usually stays in the 100-250k price range. |

La Penta owns most of the good Mineshafts..............he and Zito have had good luck with them. Boy, I hope Fly Down stays in the States (I know, he's not La Penta).

Zito had a firster win this year at Saratoga that was claimed by Pompa and ran 2nd to Uncle Mo in the Champagne (Mountain Town I think).
He still hasn't won a dirt race in NY since Morning Line's allowance in at Saratoga. I hope Dialed In ends up being a nice horse. That was a very good effort. |
