I've never been, but will be in FLA the end of next week and tentatively plan to go on 3/26. If anyone cares to give me any tips about TBD, like any good eats, who not to talk to and so on, I'd welcome your sage advice.

If you are staying on the beach this is good place to stop after a day at the track. Laid back good food music outside usually.

If you are staying in Tampa I can't help.

Have fun

opusone - thanks, but this is strictly an in-and-out, one day window of opportunity, make-my-being-in-central-Florida-worthwhile excursion. Which is why I wondered if the food at the track is any good.

Rudeboyelvis - I'll pay extra close attention to his entries. Thanks.

Glorious. Thanks for the link. Got a kick out of the railbird photo. I've thought those birds have the best seats in the house, on the rail or high over the track.

Get yourself a hot pressed Cuban Sandwich at the 2nd floor clubhouse bar.

Don't talk to Rudeboyelvis or Exacta Bob.

Enjoy your day.

Thanks! One more question: I'm coming from the east on I-4. Mapquest is telling me to take Hwy 92 (Hillsborough Ave) straight across instead of staying on I-4 and I-275. Does that sound right?

That will get you there, but it will take forever. Best bet if you're coming in from I-4 is to take I-275 south, then follow the signs to the Veterans Expressway / Rt. 60 (Don't go over the bridge) and get on Memorial Hwy just before the Veterans.
Take Memorial to the end (will intersect Hillsborough), take a left on Hillsborough then a right on Race Track Rd.
