The interesting thing that I notice about these NY Breds is that (in general)Pletcher doesn't have as much success at uping their figures. For instance,Carminooch got beat by Organizer in this race last year by about this much, and the same this year.At times,he has gotten West Virginia to run a high figure(twice against Invasor,)but the horse can't do it consistently(and today couldn't even beat Carminooch,or Organizer.)To me,these NY Breds (in general)struggle to consistently perform at a high level. For instance,if you took a Kentucky or Florida bred stakes horse from Tom Bush, and gave it to Pletcher,I think probably he(his group ) could keep improving on that horse's figures. However ,if you gave Pletcher a horse like Gold and Roses(a fairly consistent New York bred stakes horse that Tom Bush trains,) I don't think the horse's figures would greatly improve.
