9/11
To me, the images of those falling who jumped from The Twin Towers are the most..what's the right word....disturbing, emotional? Obviously all over the media, but just a thread if anyone wants to say something.

It's going to be the focal point of what started the collapse of the American empire. It is used to justify a police state and multiple unjust wars that have bankrupted the country and are definitely going to lead to severe austerity cuts.
I'm sorry the people died but I'm sick of this event. It turned us into scared, hysterical p.ussies. |

Didn't need to see that again. Horror isn't strong enough word for what those poor people had to suffer as their last decision.

The Worst Mistake America Made After 9/11 How focusing too much on the war on terror undermined our economy and global power. By Anne Applebaum Updated Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at 7:13 AM ET read this article this morning, thought she made some good points. |

Liberalism and political correctness did that. Berchenstock, granny-glass wearing hippies in tie dye were just the leading edge of the wussification of America.

Who IS going to be at the 9/11 memorial when
Survivors are excluded. First responders (police and firemen) are excluded. Clergy is excluded. Just a bunch of politicians running their mouths? |

i think we focus on this event far too much, and have allowed it to become too much of what defines us. it was a horrible occurrence, and took a lot of innocent lives. but it should not become our defining moment, or let it rule us and be the compass that guides us. billions have been spent because of what happened-to what end? i saw an article that said we'd have had to have over 1500 terrorist attacks to justify the money we've spent. there's safe and aware, and there's paranoia, panic, hysteria and out of control fear.

This past week it's been difficult to hear the stories from the children who lost parents on that day. For them and the memories of those who died that day, particularly those who died trying to save someone else, we need to remain focused. As a country we need to remember the celebrations that occurred throughout the Arab world following the attack on our innocent civilians instead of trying to forget it. Thank God our country responded and continues to respond safe and aware as opposed to crawling into a corner with out of control fear. |
