![]() Not sure why this would be a problem? Isn't horse/stallion farm sponsorship a natural fit for the Breeders Cup?

Neither is marketing the BC to hip celebrities. Nor is it really a problem adding a BCJ Sprint race. My point is simply that it's just another meaningless marketing gimmick that really does not do anything to improve the product, or increase exposure. I mean, who really gives a flying fuk about yet another press release that means nothing? |

Is sponsorship by breeding farms really a "marketing gimmick"? It doesn't decrease exposure and actually raises some revenues, neither which is a bad thing. If you had been a little more clever you could have complained that industry "insiders" like the 4 farms that signed on will most likely get more of the premium seating as a result of this deal leaving fewer good options for actual fans. |

![]() Thanks for being motivated enough to respond.

As for being anti, I'm pretty much anti everything that is pointless when it comes to this area. Do they really expect people to be wowed by this? Have you gotten so used to the posturing these people do that this announcement doesn't look lame in comparison to some of their other moves? They've done so many stupid gimmicks over the last five years or so it's just gotten old. Win and you're in, catering to celebrities, stupid new races that detract from the overall experience, post parade advertisements, the new contest they've announced for this year, etc. It's all a bunch of nothing. |

![]() Post parade advertisements have been by far the best idea they've come up with.

![]() The casual fan will not care and the horseplayer might be annoyed by an onscreen blurb about the breeder or sire of a horse, but otherwise who cares?
The program is called BREEDERS' Cup, not the horseplayers cup. The fact is that those farms are putting up money which is good. In reality it is probably preaching to the choir for them as any actual breeders who are watching on TV probably already know the sires/farms that sent the runners out.
