Default BC WORKTAB: Monday 10/31 -- Ho hum halves

From scintillating to somnambulant.. After Sunday's workout treats, we're getting Halloween morning tricks with Breeders' Cup contenders turning in a series of nearly identical half mile moves during session one. All of the following breezed:

CEASE (Marathon): Went in :51.0..

SEEKER (Marathon): Went in :50.2..

SUM OF THE PARTS (Juvenile Sprint): Moved nicely getting half in :49.2 with a steady flow and solid gallop out. Perhaps a good addition to exotics list in inaugural running..

MY MISS AURELIA (Juv. Fillies): Half in :49.3 in smooth enough fashion..

WILBURN (Dirt Mile): Was hoping for something flashy from handsome soph but got a blah half of :49.4 with second half a little slower than first..

TAPIZAR (Dirt Mile): And yet another Asmussen camp yawner with :49.2 half and almost no gallop out at all shutting down before the 7/8th's..

BIG DRAMA (Sprint): Most important drill of early session with defending Sprint champ going encouragingly in :12.2, 25.0, :49.1 (official distance of work), out in 1:02.3 and even a little of double out in 1:16.4. Was going easily and showed no sign of aches and pains that have reportedly been dogging him. I get the feeling it will strictly be a matter of how he feels on raceday as to how serious a chance he has to repeat. As much respect as I have for David Fawkes, it's hard to be supremely confident that the Montbrook 5yo is as ready for Saturday's challenge as he was a year ago going postward off 4 starts at Calder and Saratoga June-September..

Joggers were out in force, with CHAMBERLAIN BRIDGE, SABERCAT and FORT LOUDONmaking the nicest impressions. Chamberlain Bridge had to be kept going the wrong way under a hammerlock as you could sense if the rider turned him the right way he would simply run off..

Sabercat is scheduled to work Tuesday, but in the meantime galloped strongly 1.5 times around. No one has had much to say about the Winchell colt, but he broke his maiden going a mile at MTH in his 4th start before winning the Garden State (1m-70y) by 6 lengths a month later. An April foal by Bluegrass Cat and out the unraced Forty Niner mare Miner's Blessing, it could be that this dark bay is maturing at the right time. He is a half to Fabled, a precocious Tale of the Cat son that Nick Zito trained to a debut juvenile win at Saratoga and an ALW win over Court Folly (!) on the Churchill 2yo Stars card in 2005. Knowing he had a sib win over the track, Sabercat could be the right kind of trifecta/superfecta include in the Juvenile at what is sure to be a boxcar number..

Fort Loudon came out for Stan Gold and clearly liked the cool weather and footing as he galloped happily.. Hamazing Destiny got his exercise in an looked better the longer he was out.. Drosselmeyer, Stay Thirsty and A.U. Miner jogged well and looked good coming exiting their weekend drills, and Uncle Mo came out as well a day after his middling move and was supposed to visited the gate for some schooling.. Tar Heel Mom, Somali Lemonade, Jake Mo & Stephanie's Kitten were all on view as well getting in various leg-stretchings..

Harrows are out now and the most anticipated post break spin will be HAVRE DE GRACE as well as APRIORITY..
