That's too bad. I seem to remember the horse being named after the owner's late husband. That's a heck of a way to sully someone's formerly good name.

Eddie Plesa, Jr. was the original trainer of record. I don't know a thing about the guy.

That's putting it as well as I have ever heard or read. And those who rely on "the famous Thoroughbred heart" in such a fashion are the reason that changes are in order, and can't happen too soon. Most owners and trainers do have the best interests of the horse at heart. So why let the bad minority sully the sport?

Poor guy. Heartbreaking.

For anyone so inclined, please consider a donation of any size now or when you are able...

I'd never given to CANTER before, but made sure I did so on this occasion. Seems a little different when the horse in trouble is one that I'm pretty sure I bet on at some point.

Doing it this morning.

Just wrote a check to Old Friends yesterday. Didn't have this in the budget, but something else can wait, right? I know that there are a lot of good folks in this business who take care of their horses, but I feel like I'm always stepping up for the others who don't. I'd like to see some positive developments in the industry in regard to (like the advertisement says) taking care of our own.
