Default 3/4: Santa Anita ($430k C/O)

Gotham & Big Cap cards in NY and California were as fun and intriguing as anticipated Saturday with great races or individual performances and enough mutuel gold rings to make the work worthwhile. $1,000 late P4 hit at Santa Anita and $300 score in early quad ensured a profitable day and several in-race opps made for quality returns as well. It was great to get It's Tricky started back as a 4yo in the Top Flight and the Tom Fool was a spectacular race that spells out great things to come for the one turn elders this year. In the feature, Hansen's Gotham effort should send his critics scurrying back under cupboards for a while.

In CA, Eden's Moon was impressive for Baffert in an odd 'slow early' Las Virgenes. Out of the G1, note the sneaky good effort of Moreno-Guillot aquiree Open Water who was the only filly able to make up ground and looks like 8.5-9f is going to be right in her wheelhouse. Willyconker was key to the SA P4's quality return as he upended rival Mr. Commons in the Kilroe under a terrific ride by Joel Rosario. And on the subject of great efforts by jocks, Jose Lezcano's decisions on a perfectly tuned Ron the Greek were flawless. The Mott 5yo had two moves in him and Lezcano used the first one entering the backstretch to gain important position and the second midway on the turn to the head of the stretch to gain control of the race.

Long, productive day and I hope everybody scored on some of the suggestions Saturday... Monster $430k P6 carryover Sunday at SA that will reach $2,000,000. It may be very difficult to come back with strong results after a particularly good day like Saturday on this tough sequence, but we have to try, don't we?

Steve, I really like the 2 singles and most of the ticket. I am going to poach most of your play (and probably play my way out of it). GL!

Yeah... Sorry Nick. That's why I was so late putting something together. This had 'rough go' written all over it.

I don't know if you saw the replay of the 4th, basically the entire field except the winner came in on the 3 and he was completely eliminated from the race. Brutal.

Steve, I am going to poach your late double as well since I can't seem to get out of my own way today. Good luck, the price is certainly right on Silver Summation.
