Game On
A Northeastern Catholic who has been getting badly outspent just won two more GOP primarys in the South.
Ever since Newt started talking about making colonies on the moon his campaign has totally collapsed. Santorum got absolutely crushed by double digits in a senate race here about 5 years ago. He had so little money...that just a few months ago he was going around selling Apricot Jelly in Iowa to raise money for his campaign there. He was so unorganized that he didn't even collect enough signatures to get his name on the ballot in Virginia (where he probably would have won) -- he also didn't get certified for delegates in a few counties in Ohio that he won. He basically had a game-changing win over Romney in Michigan in his grasp... and he takes the bait and starts talking sh!t about JFK and colleges. Santorum is basically that brand they call "compassionate conservatisim" ... the brand that was championed by George W. Bush and a brand that is almost a polar opposite of Ron Paul's politics. How is Santorum different than George W. Bush? He's far more likeable and respectable. He speaks better and is considerably smarter. However, he doesn't have a morsel of the money, connections, and prestige. Other than that, he's the same freaking guy. If Romney can't put away the Apricot Jelly salesman before the convention...it's safe to say he'll have no shot with Obama and a Mormon will never win a GOP nomination again. |

"Santorum tells Puerto Ricans that if they want to be a state, they need to make English the official language". http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1345728.html
Yeah, help win the Latino vote, Ricky. And pretend there is a Constitutional requirement for English to be a state (no, there is not). Christ protect us from his rabid followers. I always laughed at the phrase, "compassionate conservatism". It's an oxymoron. Great article by George Lakoff. It clearly outlines the unchallengable father-figure authoritarianism messaging that the right depends upon, and uses the Santorum Strategy as the perfect example of that. And talks about how Palin, Santorum, all if it is simply about moving the Overton Window to the right culturally in this country. http://www.alternet.org/election2012...merica/?page=1 Quote:

I have talked to local evangelicals who do believe Mormonism is a cult. Like they are not? (speaking in tongues is a good example ....) Not as bad as where you live though, surely.
