![]() The Dubai World Cup has been run 14 times on dirt. Here is the top American racing hope each year.
1996: Cigar 1st 1997: Siphon 2nd 1998: Silver Charm 1st 1999: Malek 2nd 2000: Behrens 2nd 2001: Captain Steve 1st 2002: Street Cry 1st 2003: Harlan's Holiday 2nd 2004: Pleasantly Perfect 1st 2005: Roses In May 1st 2006: Wilko 2nd 2007: Invasor 1st 2008: Curlin 1st 2009: Well Armed 1st In the 14 editions on dirt -- our top finisher has won 9 times and has never finished worse than 2nd. In the 3 editions on synthetic -- not a single one of our horses has finished in the top 3. There is nothing random about this. Our turf horses suck. Our synthetic horses suck. Our dirt racing is and always was wildly superior to dirt racing everywhere else. The best synthetic horse we've ever had is Zenyatta...and I find it hard to believe she could have beat a big group of respectable International grass horses on Tapeta. I've said it would be 20 or 30 years until another American horse wins the Dubai World Cup. It sounded a little bold ... but considering the field size and how well our horses have performed shipping over for turf races...it might be a complete impossibility. |

![]() Never realized how successful U.S. runners were in Dubai in years when it was run at Nad Al Sheba on dirt. Nice input as always Drugs.
I enjoy the carnival as it"s a real puzzle. Only cost Shiek Mo Billions to win Millions |
