I just got the opportunity to listen to this interview on my way home from work. I thought Romans was excellent and made concise salient points as to why the ban of Lasix is misguided. The Santa Maria comment was hilarious yet made his point. Steve, I also thought that you did a great job engaging the issues with Romans appropriately, well done.
The health of the horse is paramount IMO and the analogy to a shot which would prevent breakdowns absolutely summarizes the main issue. The comment of the breakdowns being public but the suffering of a bleeding horse seen only in the barn also underscores how the benefits of this drug vastly outweigh the negatives. Educating the public is the response, not banning a medication that is available to all to level the playing field which reduces the number of horses who needlessly have to suffer. |
