Wishing Ring
Exactly 100 years ago today -- Wishing Ring won a race at Latonia (Old Turfway Park) and paid $1,885.50 for a $2 win bet. Calvin Borel might have had the mount on the 7th place finisher...
Not to redboard for Jerry Brown, but obviously Thoro-Graph pattern players would have hammered this horse as she fit one of their favorite angles 'First time 4-year-old, off of a layoff' that frequently can lead to horses running big new 'tops' To be fair, even though savvy sheet players would have cleaned up on her when she won at 942-to-1 odds ... they obviously played her to bounce next time out, and she 'paired up' and won at 8-to-1 odds paying $19.00 to win. |

I love these racing history posts, Doug.
I googled, and: $2 of 1912 dollars would be worth: $47.62 in 2012 $1,886 of 1912 dollars would be worth: $44,892.86 in 2012 Heck of a return.
