Surprised no comments. How great of a race is this with 2 absolute monsters in there!?

Who's the other monster? I'm looking forward to Royal Delta, though.

Good call...everything about her race was dreadful.
Not exactly lights out from RD either. |

RD was way to close to that pace, which was crazy fast for a 10f race.

Royal Delta
That's what class looks like.
A very tired gal digging in and holding off Tiz Miss Sue while giving 10lbs after laying too close to a destructive pace. |

Quote:
It was only 9lbs -- as Rocco was 1lbs overweight on the 2nd place finisher. Tiz My Sue was only 1 length behind Royal Delta after a 1/4 mile and only 1 length behind Royal Delta after six furlongs -- so it wasn't like she sucked up a lot. Still, quality win for Royal Delta, especially considering the fact that she's performed below her par when she's had to work hard early in the past. Smith could have been a lot more patient. Awesome Maria is not exactly that much horse when she's away from the Pletcher haven at Gulfstream Park. |

Smith never misjudges pace.

RD will be fine. Close to the pace moved early and wide.... she should win fairly easily going 10f at Toga next out. Don't get me wrong, she's no Icon Project, but who really is?

I think most of the field misjudged it, that horse who finished second would have been better off being further back and making one sweeping run, but that is debatable when you have most of the stretch to get by.
