![]() i wasn't clear either, looking back. i was muddling both cases together...the lying to congress obviously would have been about iraq. the votes were unanimous for afganistan, and a clear majority for iraq.
on iraq, the house vote for resolution 114 to use force was 296-133 in favor. so over 2-1. it was 77-23 in the senate. i had to look up the numbers, just knew my memory said it was a clear majority in favor. perhaps we should change the rules on war voting? instead of a majority, it should be 3/4 for to do so. that would have meant defeat in the house. also think that if they don't want to actually declare war, we don't go at all. that would stop a lot of this as well. i think people would be surprised to know just how many times we've actually declared war-or should i say, how few times? but just as many soldiers dead anyway, others maimed or scarred for life, and lives ruined-for what?
