![]() In the 2nd race today at Santa Anita, a horse threw the rider at the start and then started running the wrong way. When the rest of the horses got to the stretch, the loose horse was running the opposite way down the stretch. So all the horses were forced to pull up briefly and the race was declared "no contest". All wagers were refunded.

![]() Kurt Hoover was asked if the 1/5 favorite would run for a 100k maiden tag next start and said the horse would be given the victory. Only for wagering purposes was the race a no contest.
If true this doesn't seem fair to award purse money to the top three finishers when every jockey pulled up temporarily before riding out their mounts. |

![]() I don't know but the moment he said it I didn't think it was correct. The chart says no money was awarded which would mean the favorite will still be eligible for a maiden race.

![]() There was a good example recently where the rail-break-away race at Arlington winner came back. She won like a good thing by 4 at AP, but all horses were impacted by the rail issue, so no contest all over, and while the form shows the line, the race didn't count for conditions...horse ran back at Keeneland in a MSW having a race on her form showing her as a 4 length winner in a similar event at AP. Wider than anything in running and was well-beaten.
