Default TVG to Televise Santa Anita Races

After not being able to reach an agreement for the last 12 years or so, Santa Anita and TVG have finally reached an agreement so that TVG will be televising the races at Santa Anita starting this winter meet (Dec. 26). In the past, HRTV had exclusive rights to Santa Anita. In addition, HRTV will now be able to show Holywood Park.

Win-Win. The more access to the bigger meets, the better.

Can't say I like TVG better than HRTV, but it will be nice to not have to listen to that HORRIBLE Zoe Cadman and her terrible commentary.

She does suck. And just about everybody on TVG is more unbearable than her.

Anyone else think the overseas chick that does commentary before the races (like today) is just as unbearable as Zoe? Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

a few i don't care for are olivares, matt carothers on tvg, vercruysse and joanne jones on hrtv.
but then, many football announcers get on my nerves. they repeat stuff that fans know, they talk as tho everyone is watching for the first time, or they say really stupid stuff. quite often we tinker with the surround sound, turn up the crowd noise, and turn down the announcers. i enjoy games so much better that way!

I've never said anything because she is well liked by some. But yes her voice alone irritates the living hell out of me. It's just not a pleasant foreign accent.

The majority of them on the two channels are horrible for television. Absolutely horrible. There might be two who could do the Sunday Night news for NBC if 10 anchors tragically died.

Siegel is a sharp guy but has a voice fit for a newspaper.

Same with the Derby Einstein. He could put a methhead to sleep.

Aloe Vera Cruz sounds like he wants to try and self-fellate himself.

TVG

Greg Wolf is basically their Michael J. Fox with no talent. The 45 year old guy that never ages. Yes Greg...we know you went to UCLA. D'awesome.

The British guy who looks like the love child of Ian Ziering and the Electric Mayhem Muppet Janice is unbearable.

About the only one I enjoy watching is Mr. B. My impersonation is pretty spot on now. I've been wondering if he's gone in for a sleep study. I think the lack of energy and mumbling could be due to a lack of REM.

When he is on TV is when he is doing his sleep study.

I agree with Mr. B but think that he doesn't reach out to those "new" players.

TVG is hands down the best-produced racing product on air. HRTV has some very sharp analysts, Peter Laurie and Jeff Seigel to name two, but for whatever reason, their broadcast - at least for me - doesn't flow or translate....It's difficult to watch when they are talking about one race, showing the post parade for a completely different track, and posting odds on the bottom of the screen - in large type, yet it's really for another different track.

Aaron Veracruz takes a LOT of getting used to, but is pretty dam sharp, and the program he does in the mornings with Jeff Seigel is one of the more informative shows available.
