Default The Sh*tty Parents Guid to Christmas Presents

A guffaw-worthy look at what we buy the rug rats. Though now I know my nieces will hate what I got them.

Eleven, ten, and seven. I got them clothes, which their mom has listed on their Amazon wish lists. I got the younger two some really cute funky things from a boutique in Brooklyn and the older one, who likes more classic things, a pretty purple hoodie with flowers hand embroidered on it. We'll see. Unfortunately, the only other things listed on their wish lists were those freaking American Girl Dolls, which are over $100 each! Aunt GR is not made of money, unfortunately.

The Gawker media empire does attract some funny commenters, that's for sure. Lotta trolls, too, of course, but some really funny comments.

In seriousness, though, Gawker has been running a several-part series on the faces of the unemployed in the recession, and it's been very good reading. Frustrating and upsetting, but very good.

After you posted the link I thought you purchased way off the grid. Thanks for sharing.........I hope they love there gifts.

P.S. If you want to be the most popular aunt don't go off their mothers list, ask them. If you want to get back at their parents purchase the loudest gift.

So true about not asking the parents... but their mom would blow her top. She's a little, shall we say, bossy.

We bought a couple of those American Girl dolls on the last couple of trips to NYC, but I don't think we got any for my grandaughter this year for Christmas; however, I do see about 20 packages of the "accessories" which are not cheap either. I don't think I even want to see the credit card bills for all this.
