TwinSpires.com's Double Pick 6 Carryover Players' Pool Wrap Up

There were two winners of the Saratoga Pick 6 on Thursday worth $424,936 each, and the TwinSpires Players Pool had neither of those tickets.

We leaned heavily on singles in races 9 (Roses For Romney) and 11 (Brandys Secret) and neither won.

One horse we didn't lean on was Kingston Bay in race 7 (leg 2), who paid $4.10 to win. The panel felt strongly that if Brandy's Secret didn't win then any of them could, and that came to fruition when Hunters Forward upset the final leg. Liking Kingston Bay more may have allowed us to connect the dots.

Congrats to the two winners out there. Here's hoping we're next.

from the site...

50k flush...

There is a reason they don't post any ROI information whenever a new pool opens up. This is the sucker bet of sucker bets. I fully understand the pool from the Twin Spires perspective as they get a nice chunk of the money back since it is bet through them and they don't put any money up. For them, they can't lose.

I also get that it can be fun to follow along in a pick six for just a few dollars for a casual player. But, there is no question that it is a losing proposition for anyone who puts money into this venture.

So there were two winners. If the players pool had hit it there would have been three winners. The payoff would have been around 300k so 6-1 on there 50K risk. best case scenerio was 18-1 if they had the lone winning ticket

Also keep in mind that this 6-1 comes with a tax form as well since the total payout would have been over the threshold. Most times, even when they hit, people lose money because the return was less than the investment. Then you get the double whammy of losing money and still getting a tax form.

Of course, none of this matters, because, as Hooves pointed out, even with 50k to play with, they didn't go deep enough in the most wide open race in the sequence.
