 I know i'm an ole fogey but why do these people walk and text, drive and text, check facebook, twitter and all..people getting hit by cars walking and playing with their smart phone crossing streets..

because people actually think they can do more than one thing at a time...which is why people fall into fountains, off piers, drive off roads, into oncoming traffic, etc.
because, unlike us mere mortals, they are special and the laws of physics, gravity, etc don't apply to them.
