Default Tiger Woods out of Masters after back surgery

Tiger Woods is out of the Masters.

The world's No. 1 player announced on his web site Tuesday that he will be unable to play in the Masters next week after having successful microdiscectomy for a pinched nerve in his back. The surgery was performed Monday in Park City, Utah, by neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Rich.

Ok, sad news.......but it's still The Masters........and as always it will be great to watch. Best tournament all year, imo.
I'll be there Monday to watch the first practice round, and I have a good friend playing this year. Michael McCoy, USGA Mid-Amateur Champion.

Sucks him not being there. Gonna be weird, but I'm sure there will still be plenty of drama and good golf being played. I had the same microdiscectomy performed in July '06. "Recovery can take several weeks" seems a bit of a stretch. The back, especially lower back, is nothing to f*ck around with for someone that plays golf for a living.

Does anyone else agree that the tv coverage of The Masters is actually the worst of all four majors? Coverage of the play, i should say.

That's the point. it's the Masters, you shouldn't have an all access pass. I'd love to watch the par 3 tourney. Maybe some day I'll score a ticket and see it. I'm gonna take a shot with Jason Day in pari mutual wagering.

I have DirecTV and they have expanded coverage which is quite good. They even have A 3D channel which makes you feel like you are actually there. Only thing is I cant watch for more than 20 minutes of 3D without getting nauseous.

I'm gonna come to my senses one of these days and take advantage of being able to watch the tournament, and actually make the trip.

Certainly not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.
