I think Chrome can do it. I thought his biggest challenge to date would come from Social Inclusion yesterday. Barring an unforeseen entrant, I think he can handle any of his previous competitors and win the Belmont.

Here's to seeing that big white face pulling ahead of the pack on June 7.

Can't wait!!

This has to be one of the oddest threads I've ever seen here on DT.

Media attention is there for the derby each year, but when a tc is on the line, racing gets a lot of play during this three week interval.

We cannot hope racing takes advantage, and wait for it do something earth shattering.

WE are racing, we must take advantage. When people ask you, and you know they will, do your best to broaden the discussion. Show excitement, even tho you know the odds are stacked against chrome, use those moments to tell people how great the sport is, day in and day out.
Tell them about the small time owners, the less than rich folks involved, the big payouts, etc. Be an ambassador. If you get just one person to check out racing, or to get involved, you've done a good thing.

I think it is important to take a step back and look at the 3 year old year this horse is putting together. Did we hold it against Rachel Alexandra that she finished 6th in her 2yo debut, or 2nd in the Pocahontas or Debutante? No, we looked at her 3yo campaign as one of the greatest years in racing history. Since Chrome has become a 3yo, he has won all five of his races in visually impressive style, without ever being asked for his best AND is 6 for 7 on conventional dirt! So his Derby was slow (in some's opinion), his Preakness was as fast as Curlin's and Big Brown's.

CC should serve as a testament to the fact that we are continually being cheated by short, spread out racing careers where some horses are unable to ever achieve their full potential. The Belmont will be CC's 13th career start (Big Brown had 5 going into Belmont, Smarty Jones had 8, Funny Cide had 8, War Emblem had 9). This foundation is what separates him from the previous horses that have attempted this feat.

he's a got a shot but it's gonna be tough. looked like he ran pretty hard in the Preakness. Victor had to use him to get position going into the first turn. Then he had to move again when Social Inclusion made his early move. then again in the stretch to hold off Ride on Curlin. hopefully he recovers well and can refill the tank in the next three weeks. but the Belmont field will be tougher. Danza, Wicked Strong and Commanding Curve will be rested and ready to go. and Tonalist could be a strong threat too. the thing i really like about Chrome is how tactical he is. he's like driving a car. Victor can put him exactly where he wants. push the gas a little and he goes...push the gas a little more and he goes a little more. i'm not confident but i will be rooting for him when they come down the stretch.

I disagree. Would you rather have a Doug Oneil or Richard Dutrow with repeated drug violations win a Triple Crown with owners as shady as the trainers themselves? PETA would love that.

I am glad Art Sherman and the owners with there small investment have a chance to win a TC.

Yes but in comparison to Oneil and Dutrow he has significantly less violations

He absolutely can win but I don't want him to for a somewhat silly reason. I want the next winner to be the clear, no doubt top 3yo in the land. I think Chrome is very good and just may be the best but I'm still of the opinion that Shared Belief is the best. I've seen 10 horses go to NY with a chance to win the crown and I've wanted five to win (Alysheba, War Emblem, Smarty Jones, Big Brown, and I'll Have Another) while the other five, I didn't necessarily want them to lose but I wasn't hoping for a win.
