Default Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there, especially those who introduced their sons/daughters to the greatest game in the world. I am thankful mine did!

Since I'm pretty sure all the dads out there in Nerdy Trail Land are getting an abundance of affection from their families, I'd like to simply wish a nice day to the people who have lost their fathers.

I hope the day is beautiful and that you are able to recall special times with joy and to always remember how proud they were of you.

Love to you all.

And, for those who have less than ideal relationships with their dads (I called mine today to wish him a Happy Fathers' Day only to find out he has drunk himself into the hospital again. Sigh...)- remember, they did the best they could, and if they could have done better, they would have.

So Happy Fathers' Day, too, to the uncles and stepfathers and family friends, who step up into so many lives to be unofficial dads. I know many on DT fill this role in the lives of many young people. Take it from this middle-aged chick, who is very grateful to her favorite uncle for being there when her dad couldn't be, the young 'uns won't forget. I promise.

My hero passed away 1 month ago, today. I'd give anything to have him back for one more hug and one more "I love you". Being a father makes me appreciate even more what an amazing father he was. They say the first one is always the hardest and there is no doubt that sentiment rings true for today.
