Default Tell me again: Why in hell does it take so long to finalize a card in CA?

I recall it is due to some rule, by why in hell does such a rule exist in 2014?

Cards don't go 'final' until early SCR's at 10a the day prior..

DT'ers:

I realize that many of you may not play at Del Mar today because:

1. You might want to see how the track plays...
2. More specifically, the poly track, which is garbage.
3. Blatantly obvious that another place opens tomorrow.
4. Other than the Oceanside, don't care for the card.

Whatever the reason, I completely understand. But I want to leave you with this:

This is one of those racing days where there is going to be a ton of on-track, unsophisticated money bloating the pools. You may say the derby is the same, but most people have a little bit of information going in. This is a massive, swinging single, San Diego alcohol festival. The Del Mar police will do 6 figures in DUI business within 2 hours of the card ending.

Bottom line....consider a little action today. The money will come out once the party is on. Maybe a few doubles, or a small late pick 4 ticket.

Best of luck to all.

Del Mar and Saratoga are opening back to back....and people are complaining.

Let's just think about that for a minute.

It's a great time of year for a horse player.

I usually play 1 or 2 times a week. When DMR and SAR open, I play 3-5 times a week.

I play just turf races at DMR, until they that get rid of that main surface. Hit the first two yesterday, so I have no complaints--except I have to wait for a finalized card.

Same here, but its pretty hard to be interested in half cards.

I pick and choose all over. I can dope out turf routes of just about any quality. Dirt races I am pickier, and won't play artificial surfaces generally. Tomorrow I will play Saratoga 6-11, DMR 3,6,9,11, ARL 8-10, CBY 4, 7, 11 (yes, the gimmick race is in there), and IND 4,6,8.

21 races--it is just 2 cards worth of races at 5 tracks. My first race is not until past 3:30pm EDT, so I have plenty of time to look over the races.
