![]() @DRFGrening: Juvenile races beyond 5 furlongs on dirt at Saratoga will have a 10 horse limit, changed from 8, starting Saturday.

![]() Smart move. 8 was too few, should make for better horizontal payoffs.

![]() I guess the whining from the Pletcher/Cordero camp, after Overspending and Competitive Edge wound up on the AE list, paid off.

![]() I think the change is appropriate. I always thought the limit was pretty silly. The old limits based upon course configuration (8 horse limit at 5F, 10 at 5.5F, 12 at 6F and 14 at 7F) seemed to work just fine. I just found it ironic that those who initially championed the limit in field size wanted it changed when, in a few instances, it did not work to their benefit.

![]() Why would Cordero be for limiting the field size? I really find that very hard to believe.

![]() All that matters is that Martin Panza is apparently now against the universal 8-horse limit, or else it would not have been changed. It is the latest of many good changes that he has made since becoming head of NYRA's racing department.

![]() That's fine, whether true or not, but you made an accusatory remark, and I think it's only fair that you back it up.
