![]() Kev, it's difficult to be sure about Neptune's rating because it depends on whether you take the view that Naunton Brook ran to his rating or not. We have Naunton running 6lb below his best on the basis that the race wasn't a stiff enough test for him, that puts Neptune on 165. But you could easily argue that Neptune deserves to be as high as 171.
Kauto Star 184 Denman 178p Exotic Dancer 175 The Listener 168 Racing Demon 166 Neptune Collonges 165 Halcon Genelardais 165 So given that our view of Neptune is a low one, and that there are obvious doubts about The Listener, Racing Demon and Halcon Genelardais giving their running even if they turn up, then I would say that NC is a pretty attractive each-way bet, even though you are relying on one of the three with the clear best form either not running, completing or running no sort of race.

I heard his participation was in doubt, but without looking I haven't heard that he's completely ruled out. If that is the case, it's a great shame.

EXOTIC DANCER sparkled in a crucial gallop this morning and remains on target for the Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup. The Jonjo O'Neill-trained eight-year-old, ridden by Tony McCoy, worked up the grass gallops at Jackdaws Castle with stablemates Don't Push It and Mountain. The work was watched by owner Sir Robert Ogden's racing manager Barry Simpson, who said: "The horse has gone up the gallops and seems to be enjoying himself. He will keep to his normal routine and, if we get a good run through and there are no reactions, he will take his place in the Gold Cup line-up." |

![]() It's nearly time for the festival, and I have no idea what is supposed to be running in many of the races, sad, isn't it. I feel like I've been shut off from the outside world.
No major fancies for me this year, and this will probably be the first festival in a long time where I won't have a bet!! ![]()

![]() Or, Ginger or Mary Anne? (alphabetical order both times, one must be impartial).
Will the champ hold off the challenger? Will they come to the last head-to-head and fight up the hill like we all want to see? Discuss. |
