look carefully at the owners names....it's none other than Joel Cuningham (the guy who used to post here regularly) and his Dad.

It's very commen for a foal to be pulled and put on a nurse mare, no harm to the mare or foal. Nurse mare babies are another story...

As far as taking the foal away so soon, they did it so that they can keep the Mom in training plus they felt she was too young..I guess that's a little late now The mare is supposed to resume training again in about a month. Canjuns do things a bit differently sometimes I guess.
i know several of toussauds last foals were taken away immediately and put on a nurse mare, with her laminitis they thought taking care of a foal would be too stressful.
as for the other foal from several years' back, they said she could race, but could not be bred as they had no way of figuring out her sire, and thus her pedigree.

I would bet it's DrugS as he has been a bit lonely since his beloved gal left him..

I believe we're referring to Amazing Philly. Last I heard, no sire yet. She was retired in 2004 with an injury. Tiger Eyed's baby looks a lot like her. It'd be funny if it ended up racing before she's retired. I swear I don't think I'm going senile but did anybody see if it was a colt or a filly? I only ever saw "foal."

I was wondering a couple things. What does it do for her produce record having a foal that can't go on to produce? I mean it'll be this weird mark on there. Also say they find out who it is, technically a colt in the same pasture would be a freshman sire for one foal right? Do they count that and what does that do for him? Would throw off the stats a bit I'd imagine.

Well, who knows. A breeding like this worked out okay once in the long-ago past...
