Yeah, I think so too.

Whether or not that's the right choice remains to be seen.

LMAO

this is overblown. how often have we seen the jock make the wrong choice? or the first choice not even make the gate, and the jock doesn't ride? he's still making a guess, and it could very well be the wrong one.

Gomez should F himself.

baffert would be the first to disagree with you. he understands the business.

I always find it amusing when the jock takes off a horse and then that horse and another jockey end up beating him You know what they are saying riding back to get unsaddled

It would be better TV(G) if they took POTN and Dunkirk out to the paddock at KE before the first race with John White describing GG who parachutes into the infield, and rather than making an announcement White interviews GG like Vince McMahon who then ends the interview to walk over to both horses going back and forth acting like he is trying to make up his mind while Ron Anderson in vaudeville hat keeps pulling GG toward Dunkirk......

..... with White pleading with GG in tears " Please don't be the only jockey in the history of the sport to walk away from a certain Triple Crown Winner".

.........finally GG rips off his 3 piece tear away Armani suit to reveal the royal blue of Mrs.Magnier and Tabor casting his destiny as he mounts Dunkirk for a 5F breeze under the familiar Twin Spires of CD as Jon White falls to the grass unconscious.....

....the camera zooms in on a pale unconscious White while a strangers hand reaches into the frame to awaken him............"I'll take it from here Jon"

.......is heard from the outstretched arm as the camera pans back and White is resurrected to his feet revealing the yellow Superman "Z" on the chest of his rescuer who is wearing the Tiel Blue silks of Zayat. Jerry Bailey gallops off on POTN under the distant background of Twin Spires never looking at the open mouthed GG on Dunkirk he passes .......if your going to make it a wrestling like circus lets go all the way....

Maybe Baffert would, but I know for a fact Gomez and Anderson's handling of this has irritated some within Team POTN.

Then they should announce that they are going with a new rider. The fact that they are pandering to this silliness makes them just as guilty as everyone.

To be honest, this whole circus makes me wonder just a little bit about Dunkirk, as no sane person would choose Pioneer of the Nile over Dunkirk for this race, unless there's an untold story. Now, the untold story could be a number of things ( use your imagination ), but the fact that it's being dragged out like this has to make you wonder.

But, there is no reason for Team Zayat to be annoyed, as there are very capable riders without Derby mounts that they could have already signed up to ride Pioneer of the Nile.

I had a similar conversation with a friend of mine, but I thought it was related to whether or not he would get into the race. It's been clear he's in for at least one week now, so why the wait? On the flip side, if they thought POTN was a superstar who could handle any surface, wouldn't they have chosen him already as well?

The hell with the Kentucky Derby, I want to see who Gomez goes with in the Andy Serling Invitational, which will be a 3 horse race between Discreet Treasure, Dunkirk, and Ready's Echo.

Yeah, you'd have to be an idiot to choose the lone multiple Grade I-winner in the field who's bred for the distance and dirt, and who has won four straight graded stakes, defeating the winners of the Wood, Gotham, El Camino, Cal Derby, and Ark Derby in the process.

And the fact that he's trained by a three-time Derby winner just adds to the lunacy.

I say go for the Unbridled's Song.

I can see the post parade now, where the commentators will make mention of it. And if his choice, or the one he chose off wins....forget about it. It's way over the top, and really kind of silly. But it could make for an interesting side story.
Marketing horses is impossible, but jockeys are around all the time.... but, no horseplayer ever speaks favorably about them, then again, they're not the ones racing needs to market to.

Gomes should be in the paddock with POTN & Dunkirk and start calling their names.. whichever one comes to him first is the one he rides.

Like anyone should feel sorry for them after the Alaazo/PA Derby fiasco last year.

Default Ron Anderson on HRTV

Gomez to stay with POTN...

And I absolutely love that HRTV stole TVG's breaking news.
