You know how the NCAA will vacate champions after violations are found and wins are forfeited? The Belmont from last year should have the same thing happen.

If you keep dissing "the pill" you will have to deal with DTTide.

If Moss wants HOY he has to get thru Rachel in the Beldame and Sea the Stars potentially in the Classic.. If Zenyatta beats those two horse she will be the greatest mare ever. He desires her shot she hasn't lost yet.

Seriously what is the friggin Goodwood mean after Rachel's performance today?

Why does anybody think that she had a shot at horse of the year after her last race and the fact that they refuse to think out of the box in any manner at all? It is hard to fathom any horse running now ever being the greatest anything ever. Maybe she can be the greatest synthetic filly ever? She should at least be running against the plug older horses out there if they want to be considered.

If Rachel didn't win the Haskell and Woodward she had a shot if they won the Classic and was undefeated. Who cares about HOY anyway. Sherriffs needs to test the mare not for the public but for the connections. Why this guy is babying a 1300 pound 5 year old mare is beyond me. It's a tremendous disservice to the Moss's they deserve better and so does the mare.

I almost wish Z'd lost the last race by a little bit, and while that sounds blasphemous I'll tell you why, it's because it would get them out of their undefeated protective bubble. I think they're more about trying to do preservation than anything right now, not that it's not understandable. Are we certain she's going in the BC Classic or is everyone just assuming? I mean it's what I would do, but obviously I don't own a glorious mare like that. It's easy to tell someone else what to do with their horse.

The mere suggestion that she needs to expand her horizons id hardly earth shattering..

I have no problem with the way they have handled their mare--provided the most they aspire to is the Older F&M championship. But if anybody opens their yap about HOY, they are "crazy" (if I may quote Andy Serling's post-race characterization today of anybody suggesting HOY candidates other than RA).

They have aimed low and they will likely succeed in hitting that target.

If she stays healthy, the BC Classic at Churchill. I think she would have trouble holding on at a mile and a quarter against better horses with the fractions she ran today.

If Zenyatta does not run against RA and beats Europe's best males in the BC Classic for her second BC win and to remain undefeated, I think she srill has a solid chance at HOY. I'm just not sure whether she will indeed win the BC Classic.

There are only two horses with a chance at Horse of the Year, and Zenyatta isn't one of them.

I'd say Rachel has it locked up, but what if Gio Ponti were to go undefeated the rest of the way? And what if he ran in and won the Breeders' Cup Classic? He didn't run badly in the Strub.

I'm just sayin'.

Anybody suggesting she isn't the horse of the year and could actually get beat is in denial and smoking crack.

Zenyatta? GIO PONTI?!?!? Please.

We can make tons of crazy scenario's for HOY. What if they all show up in the Beldame.....Rachel, Icon, Zenyatta and Carless.... Icon cruises then wins any Breeders Cup race, what happens then? Same thing with Zenyatta? What if Rachel shuts it down, Summer Bird wins JCGC and BCC? Then what? Zenyatta stays out West, stays undefeated and runs in the classic, beats Sea the Stars and all the Birds and everyone else, then what? Rail Trip cruises tomorrow, then beats them all in the Classic? Sea the Stars beats all 12-14 of them in the classic? I will say this, if Zenyatta does not come and beat Rachel she HAS TO WIN THE CLASSIC, not the Distaff/Ladies Classic.

I would say these are the only horses who have any chance at all at HOY and they all would have to hope Rachel runs again and gets beat...

Rachel 1-9

Zenyatta
Rail Trip
Summer Bird
Sea the Stars..... they all have outside chances but things would have to go perfect

Icon Project, I am putting her only because I beleive she is a stayer and at 1 1/4 could do some damage, maybe classic?
Gio Ponti..... these 2 need TONS OF HELP.

I dont see how anyone else has any prayer.

I have a greater chance of running in the Beldame than Zenyatta.

Who frikkin cares about HOY? She did what she had to do. Great race! I just got home. She took on all comers and beat them. What more does anyone want? She just showed the Whitney was the real deal with the 1st 2 finishers coming at her. If she doesn't toss Borel I have the tri for 10 bucks. Then I put 20 on Macho to win instead. Oh well . What could any true fan have to b!tch about? Pacific whatever who the fk cares? Synthetics have ruined West coast racing. Zenyatta (who I love) has beaten a bunch of carpet rats. BFD. HOY doesn't mean crap. Rachel has a season for the ages going. If a 3 year old colt accomplished what she has the world would be raving, and they should be. But she's a filly, so the world should be spinning sideways. Mine is.

Let's dismiss your conjecture with some FACTS.
  • Rachel Alexandra just won 9th straight race; 8th this year.
  • Fifth consecutive Grade 1 victory: Kentucky Oaks, Preakness, Mother Goose, Haskell, and Woodward. Have you ever heard of these races?
  • History would suggest that any male horse who won Preakness, Haskell and Woodward would be "clubhouse leader" for Horse of the Year with or without Breeders' Cup victory. Add Kentucky Oaks and Mother Goose and "virtual lock" is not unrealistic on HOY honors.
