Default Horse of the Year

Rachel's race today was awesome and I am a big fan. However, even with all she has accomplished, isn't a little early to be declaring that she has wrapped up horse of the year honors? Andy beyer said it this morning. The guys on TVG have been saying it as well.

If Zenyatta comes east for the Beldame and beats Rachel and then goes on to win the Breeder's Cup Classic, wouldn't she have to be horse of the year? Not likely to happen (I know) but as great as today is for racing, it cannot possibly have definatively settled the horse of the year question.

Default With those fractions, I would have bet

$1000 at the turn that she would get caught...

really in a class of her own.

Zenyatta would have to beat Rachel in the Bedlame and Sea the Stars in the BCC for HOY. My guess is Sheriffs will duck both.

Would it really be worth the risk for both parties? I am not being coy, I really am not sure. What do DTer's think? I will say, that was one of the best races that I have ever had the privilege to enjoy.

I agree I think they shut her down. Unless the voters decide to punish the connections for not going to the BC, she gets horse of the year.

If what she's done this year isn't a Horse of the Year campaign, I'm not sure what is. Sorry folks, but she sealed the deal today.

Great point. I saw it and totally agree.

Also, he had to use the whip today, which isn't normal for him on her.

Dude I whacked my leg with the soft ones and you cant hardly even feel it. If I had hit myself with a regular one as hard i'd still have a welt and this was three months ago. It does matter but of course if they are all using the same one it is fair.

all having the same is definitely the point.. to keep it even.

haven't seen the new one, didn't figure it would be that different... and you're the expert.
