Just waiting for it to be announced on one of the major publications but that is the word also from Jensblog of DRF and the Morningline odds maker at Woodbine.

I was wrong. Surprised to say the least.
Official as per DRF... I was also wrong, and surprised. He'll jog in the Queen's Plate though.

I don't know how he will do on Poly and how he will handle turf for that matter, but perhaps Stronach is shooting for the Triple up there. Now really getting ahead of ourselves now could it set up a match up between 2 TC winners? would have loved to have seen him in the Preakness, he had a shot IMO

If BB is the real deal, and still sound and racing in August, he would present a much tougher challenge to HR then than 2 weeks after running in the derby.

My guess is they are hoping BB is no longer in the picture later in the year.

GAYEGO – Trainer Paulo Lobo reported Monday morning that a start in the Preakness Stakes by Cubanacan Stables’ Gayego is under consideration.

“I’m going to decide (Tuesday). We are going to have a meeting,” Lobo said from Southern California. “I’m going to track him in the morning, then we’ll make a decision.”

Gayego, the Arkansas Derby (G2) winner, finished a troubled 17th in the Kentucky Derby, in which he had to be steadied in traffic after getting off to a sluggish start. Lobo said his colt never got into the race after his early troubles.

“That’s the reason we are thinking about (the Preakness),” he said. “He’s very happy right now and he came back very sound.”

Gayego could offer EXCELLENT value underneath in the Preakness. He's much better than his Derby performance, and there generally isn't much support for 17th place finishers in the Derby.

I thought this horse was not doing great before the Derby, ran like crap in the Derby, now ships to socal, and back to Baltimore...........oh boy, he is alot more likely to run last then first.

I totally disagree. I think most people will put a line through his Derby (as they probably should), and he'll get bet down to 6-1 or so off of his previous two races.

I still don't think he's a legitimate 9+ furlong horse, and I'd need 10-1 or better to include him.

I don't know about value, in fact, I'd suspect the horse would be second favorite in the race even given his Derby finish.

GAYEGO – Trainer Paulo Lobo reported Tuesday that Gayego is a “go” for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes. The son of Gilded Time, who galloped 1¼ miles at Hollywood Park Tuesday morning, is scheduled to arrive at Pimlico Wednesday afternoon following a cross-country flight that he will share with Preakness hopeful Yankee Bravo.

“He’s an extremely good shipper,” said Lobo, whose colt shipped to Oaklawn Park in April for a victory in the Arkansas Derby and shipped again for a start in the Kentucky Derby on May 3.

Gayego finished a disappointing 17th in the Derby as the sixth betting choice in a field of 20, compromised by a sluggish start and early crowding. Lobo reported that the Kentucky-bred colt didn’t overexert himself in the Run for the Roses.

“He came back very well,” he said. “He’s been eating everything. He’s feeling happy.” Mike Smith, who has ridden Gayego in each of his six lifetime starts, has the return mount for the Preakness. Smith rode Prairie Bayou to victory in 1993. Lobo has not started a horse at Pimlico.

You know what? I'm actually psyched Gayego is coming to Baltimore. Even with his Derby finish, I would suggest his entry would undoubtedly add to the overall quality of the Preakness field.

if you think that much of him for $11 more, don't forget Gayego/BB/All

personally, i'm glad he's running because he'll take money and for me he's a toss...he's logged more miles in the past two weeks than shelly the stewardess...

I wonder what the board consensus would be of which horse besides
Big Brown will hit the board. I 'll use him just for the fun of it.

Gayego is the only other horse that can win. I mean what other horse has posted triple digit beyers on the dirt? (besides Big Brown)
