![]() Just read 2 articles on equidaily.com about Big A Winter Meeet.
The first is thru Albany Times Union touting the toughnesss, etc. needed to work and/or race at the meet, When asked why they continue to run, COO Nader replies for the $$$...$8.5 miillion a day being wagered; however he then tells the NY Daily News that the Winter Meet is a drain on cashflow for NYRA losing $11 million in Dec. & Jan. I'm all for racing in NY, no matter what time of the year, and I realize it helps some good vet. jocks and some fresh faced jocks as well as letting us see some of our favorite horses keep plugging away. But shouldn't we get our priorities straight and end or shorten this foolish winter meet, hoping that if NYRA does in fact own Aque. Bel. and the Spa, they won't continue to jeopardize great racing in NY. Sorry if I offend all you inner track lovers, just looking for some common sense in this great overtaxed state of ours. |
