Default Joppa Flats in the 5th

Watch out for Joppa Flats in the 5th... I've been following this horse for a while, 1st turf is a ?, but he's been trying to close on the dirt against major rail/speed biases in last 2 (aqu and gulf).. most importantly, I won't be able to play him today, that's when all my watch horses run their best!

Default Agreed...Joppa Flats

Interesting to see main Wilkes jock (Castellano) move to the 1st time turfer with a few excuses in his last few races.

JD,

You think Wilkes reaching for JV 'first ever together' an angle here? Found this event utterly confounding... Wilkes' gelding ran like turf router in dirt sprints, and exits events against some serious sophs... Wilkes and Ribaudo have been equally inept with grass-goers, as is Nick (#1 & #10), making the D2T movers even harder to read..

We'll analyze this all day and then watch Bill Cesare & Ray Fuentes win at 58-1.. (and on that topic, note that Cesare's Big Diesel is the lone entrant in the field as drawn that has gone 9f on any surface... and had four 1 mile works between 12/12-1/15!)

Steve,

I am as confounded as you. I know these guys (Wilkes and Nafzger) to be pretty darn loyal to a few jocks for an entire meet....and in Florida that seems to always be Castellano, Castro and Cruz, so I don't know what to make of it. Also, the B. Lynch horse looks the type that may be all right.....and then find his way to Frankel's barn!!

PP,

Good luck too.. I saw we had basic overlap on the play.. Want to see the scratches yet to formulate ticket... Hoping to save some multiples as I agree with you that it's an expensive proposition today to catch this!

Think there'll be lots of conversation leading up to the GP card today!!

I like the 9th race mainly to bet against a few in the race. I can't see Flight West who's had rail trips in all his turf starts. Probably 5/2 in here. I also like the 2, Skip Datt, over Stradmus and Coburn as I think he did more running in that race than the other two although Sierra's ridden a total of three horses over the past 12 months at 65-1, 42-1 and 35-1 without a board finish. This one should be a little shorter, but still 20-1 looks ok to me. I also think the 6, Craig Harris, looks interesting if near 20-1 as well with an ok set, some speed and Coa.

Like a lot of these maiden claiming turf races, I'll go long, deep and look for a trip.

I'll play Skip Datt and Craig Harris in exbx's with each other and the 1,3,4.

In the 8th, it looks to me like Hydrogen, Top Bunk or Kalium.

good luck.

Altough I do not play this track, and the turf course is one of the more unique in North America... I see where the temporary rail will be moved DURING the card!! FYI. BBB

Don't know if $48 gets it done, but here's what I'm trying:

<$50 P4 Play:

6: 5-6
7: 2-4-5-7
8: 5-7-8
9: 3-5

2x4x3x2 = $48

2 should have taken that race, IMO. Rushed up behind the 1 on the turn, dropped back. Rushed up again, took up, nearly reared and then was switched to the outside and came again to get 3rd. Why, oh why, couldn't jock get him in the exacta??
