Default Pletcher KY Derby Entrants

8 weeks to the derby and Pletcher has more than a handful that could make the KY Derby including:

Circular Quay
Scat Daddy
Any Given Saturday
Ravel
King of the Roxy
Cowtown Cat
Sam P.
Deadly Dealer

How many actually make it? I say three, maybe four. Any other TP runners I'm missing who have a chance?

I rank them in this order to make the race...

Circular Quay - regains repect with La Derby win
Any Given Saturday - think Pletcher likes this one the best
Ravel - two preps to Derby
Sam P. - sharp 2nd last week...sleeper of group
Scat Daddy - will become the "best overall" of this group by end of year
Cowtown Cat - his Preakness starter
King of the Roxy - see above horse
Deadly Dealer - monster effort last start, needs to face tougher first

Where is Grapelli???

I asked this on another thread and just know he's in Cali.
On my DRF watch but nothing going, I thought after his nice close inthe San Rafael he be a top one for Pletcher now.
He is also out of one of my favorite mares, BELLA BELLUCCI!!

Just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it!!

Really like Ravel off that Sham victory...don't like just the two preps into the Derby though!

Any Given Saturday, Circular Quay, Scat Daddy, and Ravel (his BIG 4) will all be running in the Derby barring injury. I feel 2 of the other 4 mentioned will also be there. I say 6 Pletcher horses will be in the Derby.

The only Pletcher horse with a shot to win a TC race is Circular Quay. He's one of only two horses that can win the Derby period. The other is Notional. Circular Quay will either win the Derby AND Preakness OR he'll win the Belmont only. That's it. Book it.

I disagree and I bet him in the Juvy...But a horse like that, even Velaz said needs the trip. And with 20 horses in the race and that style he is going to have trouble overcoming it. Stalkers have such a distinct advantage in the Derby. Those Monarchos types need both the trip and the pace. You might get one. You rarely get two.

His style will compromise his chances. But I think he's so much better than all of the rest of them, except for Notional, that he'll be able to spot them lengths and beat them.

I think he will have 5 no problem based on earnings. Could be up to 7 if he decides to run Rags to Riches. If that fillie runs in the derby there will be great value in the Oaks futures as she will take a ton of money driving up the prices of others.

No way she's less than double-figures to win even if she's in there.

Grapelli is on your grocery store shelves. Look in the olive oil section.

I thought Lucas had the record w/ 5 in 1986 (Grindstone's win). I dont know if Zito had 5, what year?
