Allowance/Optional Claiming Races
I never understand why they don't give the horses who run for a tag a few pounds...What is the attraction to running for a tag then? It would make sense that they do that.

the attraction to running for a tag is that it allows the horse to run in the condition in which it could have already won.
sorry to point out the obvious, but I like those races from a handicapping point of view as it makes for larger fields |

they are giving the horse a break. By allowing it to run in the same condition. Why give an additional break.
