Default Q re: Trip notes from LA derby..

From the equibase charts it says:

"Ketchikan : CLose up going to the first turn, made a quick 3 wide move outside the leaders approaching the backstretch, held the lead while off the rail, responded when collared by CQ but was not match late"

Errh, but the positional notes indicate that Ketchikan led at all calls in the race...What am I missing here? Was another horse in the lead in between calls or something?

if you watch the replay it looks like he makes the lead just before the first call. he was 3rd going into the turn and then kind of runs off...

okay, I guess the quarter pole comes up on the turn or little after.

Hey what does it mean when they say he "ran off?" Is that like running rank?

It means he took off and ran away from the rest of the field. . .
