Buffy, The Long Way Home, vol #1
On sale today, I had seen much of the story line but still a great read...Joss breaks the first arc, great cover by Jo Chen and inside art work very nice as well! Can't wait to see who subject #2 is...of course cheese would be a request. Buffy, Xander and Dawn interactions took me back to the show...a must if you are a Buffy fan! $2.99 if you buy the original cover, they wanted $5.00 for the alt cover which I passed on.

More celebrating at Dark Horse, they officially announced a second printing to be available the 28th! This is amazing...Dark Horse had extremely high expectations and they have been exceeded in two days!

I thought someone else needed to post in this thread so I'll dip my toes in the water. What makes this version worth buying? I was thinking of holding out for the box set in a year. Any advice?

Well thanks Randy for that "tongue-in-cheek" response, while I realize you are just poking fun at my obsession I will answer...Dark Horse has already announced that they will offer the season eight collection in a single volume at some point...it will probably be rather expensive and, if the plan for 30 or more episodes becomes a reality, about 3 years in the future. As far as what makes the comic worth buying...well, Buffy fans will buy it because it's canon...Buffy by Joss Whedon, not some imposter. Comic fans will buy it because it's well drawn, exciting, well scripted and simply enjoyable. Collectors will buy it because it will be collectable, especially the limited edition special covers (one is currently on sale for $70 and higher). The book went on sale on Wednesday and the first printing (100,000+ copies, 25% more than usually printed) was gone that night. A second printing will be rushed through and available on the 28th. I'm not an expert on comic books and sales but everyone says this exceeds all expectations, I know the folks at Dark Horse are celebrating! People can poke fun at the show all they want, the fact is there are millions of Buffy fans out there and many are much more obsessive than me with rooms full of collectables (dolls, show props, books etc etc). The fact that a comic book offered three years after the show ended is met with this much enthusiasm says it all! I know you really don't care about any of this but thanks for giving me an excuse for ranting on! John
