Default The little guy made us proud

My wife left work early today because of the nasty weather here in NY so she was home when i got our son from the bus stop. When i got back in after dealing with some of the snow she tells me we need to have a long talk with our son.He had gotten his report card today.I opened it up to see that out of thirty possibilities he got 26 perfect scores of 4 and 4 scores of 3.Of course i looked at the lines he got 3's in just to see but didn't say a thing other than how proud i was.Friday night we go out for dinner but because the weather is so bad i told him we'd give him a rain check, and next week he could pick the place.

Mermaid, you know what they say, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

In your son's report card that is evident; and as children, our achievements lead straight back to the love and guidance of our parents.

Pleased for you all.

Be sure to tell him how proud of him all your degenerate gambler friends are.

Seriously, that's great- I remember you were feeling very frustrated as a parent a few months back and I'm glad he done you proud.

So, what're the odds he picks a pizza place? Tee hee.

Default Thank You

All your replies were greatly appreciated. As it turned out one of the catagories he got a 3 in was understanding context. As he knows that's because he tries to rush through things and doesen't capture everything.I have started to read the books that he is required to and will quiz him after he's done with the book.Genuine Risk he wants to go to Fridays. Our daughter really fascinates me.She's 4 years old and it appears they have been teaching her about outer space. While driving the other she explained to me that there is a black hole in outer space and that astronauts need to wear a helmet to breathe. Then she adds that Pluto was a planet but not anymore it's a star just like the sun.At 4 years old they have her pointing out sight words and writing them down such as, and,to,of,in and more. There is so much pressure on kids today it's scary. When i was 4 i was still trying to master wiping my a$$.

Mark, from what I've learned about you from this board, I can honestly say that you are one of the most thoughtful, well-meaning, and dedicated people I've met - it really is no wonder that your children are going to excel... you are exactly the kind of parent that children should have.

Well done! Now keep it up for another decade!

That's so cute about your little daughter, though I'm worried about what her astronomy teacher is telling them... I think we forget how much we learned when we were that little, though- my grandmother loved telling a story about how, as a four-year-old, she saw me with a book and when I said I was reading it, accused me of lying and made me read it out loud to her to prove it. And, she said, "Darned if you weren't reading." I, of course, have no memory of this whatsoever.

I do remember loving dinosaurs by age 5, but I think that's a rite of passage every 5-year-old goes through.
