1st Santa Anita
There are 3 interesting 1st timers in here. Two of them had the fastest works at their respective sales. Squires Wingman worked a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Barrett's May Sale. He was a very good mover too. I don't know why he has all long works. they may be trying to hide his speed in order to cash a bet. vice Commander had the fastest work at the Fasig tipton Timonium Sale. He worked :10 1/5. He moved alright but he was on his left lead. Euroglide worked a quarter in :21 3/5. He probably could have gone a tick faster too, if he would have got more of a running start. He kind of looks like a route horse though. He may win, but I'm not going to bet him at 3-5. I'm going to bet the other two horses.

I was right that they were trying to hide Squires Wingman's speed. They were working him a mile in 1:43. In the race today he got the lead in :21 2/5. He ran huge buth the favorite was just too good. I was worried that the favorite might be too good, but he was a long-striding who looked like he may want to run a little longer and he was 3-5. I thought it was worth trying to beat him.

I thought the quality was very good at both sales this year. There were a lot of really good horses. My favorite horse at the Barrett's Sale was the same as everyone else's. It was the Officer colt that Darley bought for $1.4 million.
