Default Rutgers Women Shock The World

Unreal. To think they are more than just the givers of more STDs than any other public university in the country. They beat Duke, the #1 team in the nation....This is the biggest upset in basketball at any level this year.

Maybe all the money they are paying Vivian Stringer is finally paying off.
A great year for Rutger's Athletics

This win is amazing. I mean Duke nearly had an undefeated season. But Jersey women won't take no for an answer.

Duke had a great season, their only blemmish was a lost to
NC state in semi's of the ACC tourney. RU women now play
Az. St. Sun Devils next. With a win into the final 4.

Those who follow women's sports, and I sure don't, would say this win is a bigger upset than any of George Mason's wins....The difference between the elite and next tier in women's hoops is HUGE....That's why teams can go 30-1 every year. Men's sports don't work that way.

Absolutely Right, The #1 and #2 seeded teams are usually far
superior than the #3 and #4 seeds. There use to be noparody
in womens college hoops. Year in and year out it always use to
be Tenn., Uconn and Duke. The tide is starting to shift away from
them totally dominating womens hoops

If nobody cared there would be no sponsors, no commercials, no womens's B-ball on the tube. My daughter is not happy with your statement. But she would rather watch men's basketball. I pointed this out.

I still like you. She... well if she met you in person she would probably be OK. But she turned red. Does not usually do that.

There are virtually no sponsors or interest in womans sports. I hate to say it but the only reason that there is any exposure is because the NCAA and NBA have forced ESPN to cover it by packaging it with their mens sports. Did you see the crowds at the womens regionals? Sparse at best. Dismal at worst. The WNBA was a bad idea that is totally financed by the NBA. They give away tickets just to get anybody there. Many NBA teams force you to buy the WNBA tickets if you want to buy season tickets.
Womans tennis is one of the few to be able to stand alone as a sport with some interest. I guess golf has a following too.
Watching womans basketball for me is not an option. I tried to watch the WNBA when it first came out. It is just like watching bad high school teams. Except you know the high school players will get better. I do watch womans tennis some.

Agree. Womens pro team sports completely dead. The NCAA basketball does draw though. CBS carried the Mens games so if there was a deal it must have been made with the regular season. I did not see the contract, but sadly, I guarantee Womens College basketball outviews any Derby prep. There were also some very dead men's games, check some of the early games. When ATM went down here in SA, it became much more sparse. Of course the tickets were already purchased. They were giving them out in front of the Alamo dome for OSU/ Memphis.

Who said I cared about it? I thought it was newsworthy and I went to Rutgers. I didn't go to a men's or women's game when I was there...I did see the baseball team play....But anytime Duke loses in anything, including Lacrosse court cases, the world is a better place.

A select few womans NCAA teams draw.

One of the reasons that the committee does things like put Louisville in the Lexington bracket is to sell tickets. This tournament and football pays for all the other NCAA sports. The Final 4 is really the only tough ticket but the regional games do get large crowds.
I saw highlights of the womans regionals where there was virtually no one there.

Sorry dude. As an alum of Rutgers, you have to take whatever you get.

I don't mind at all....I wouldn't have known they were even playing if horse racing wasn't going to be on ESPN and I went to check if it had started yet. LOL, so I didn't have much emotional interest in it obviously.
