You know, I am beginning to see what you mean with this guy. I was mad a couple of weeks ago in the ride he gave on Too Much Bling. I was sitting there thinking what in the h e l l is he doing. I could have rode the horse better than he did that day...well maybe not, but you know what I mean. Gomez is crazy. He is either brillant or just plain bad. I don't think Too Much Bling would have won the race anyway, but it may have been a lot closer if he wouldn't have put in that awful ride.

I think Johnny is the best as a rider. He is so consistent. I hope he can recover from his fall and reach his full potential again because this is the best rider we have going for us. I am also beginning to really like Leparoux and Jara too.

On another note, is Gomez now the #1 for Pletcher? I noticed Johnny wasn't riding Todd's horses in the big races at Churchill this past weekend.

Also, Rafael Bejarano's ride on Oonagh Maccool in the Fleur De Lis this weekend made me mad too. With a better ride, I think she would have won the race.

Yeah hes frustrating. Most guys who ride at an 18% clip will do so with some good days, bad days, and a few great days and a few awful days. This guy is real weird. He seems to be great or just awful, not much in between. Its very hard to know which guy is gonna show up.

I was asking myself that question too last weekend. I thought maybe Pletcher had some sort of agreement to ride GG until the expected return date of JV but then JV came back early so maybe TP is just honoring a commitment? Any one know the answer?

Guys Johnny is number one. Johnny wanted to ride Spun Sugar in the rich grade one race so he stayed at Belmont that day. he can't be two places at once. If Todd had a horse in the Foster he may have gone down but he didnt. Bej rode OOnagh and Gomez went down to ride a few.

I went to school at Plattsburgh and since VT has no gambling the Burlington guys would take the ferry over every day to gamble. I have been gone from there for 14 years but I still miss "the boys" and talk to em by phone. One of my best friends ever owns a restaurant called the Ice House on the lake, Jimmy is his name. I used to go over there on Saturdays and he would open teh place just for us and we would bet horses and he would bet football and he'd have a waitress come in to serve us. That was the life I tell you, especially for a college kid!!!

I sure did!!! I know Burl real well even before I went to college and met Jimmy and the boys. My dad worked for IBM and was always going to Burlington on business. We used to all go in the summertime with him and go to Lake Champlain, etc. I remember going to Ben and Jerry's before anyone knew what it was.

the town is nowhere near as fun as it used to be--all the local guy's that gave it flavor have gone corporate (B&J) or retired (Nectar) and the new Pres. of the university has done away with the party atmosphere cause he wants the thing to be a public Ivy League--But the people are still cool, and summer on the lake can't be beat. Small world again, My Dad used to work for IBM (as do most of the poeple around here.)

Burlington VT is very nice in the summer. But I cant stand all the liberals kids there. Drives me freaking crazy. A bunch of rich hippie wanna-be's. I used to go to Burlington all the time. Either to fish on the lake, or catch a minor league game. Prob one of the prettiest small cities in America.

sorry I grew up here, liberal is pretty much written on my birth cert., much to the dismay of my mid-western father. BUT I am not wealthy, I am NOT a hippie, although I usually smell like a horse barn. Those neo hippies are usually phish heads from Mass. or CT or NJ who flock here to visit the phish mecca that is Burlington--and go to UVM. Please don't mistake them for Locals...
