And as I indicated in an earlier thread, Fifth Third should have well noted and heeded this guy's prior convictions in four states. They bailed on the 125 million loan agreement; and in hindsight they should never have extended the two of them a dime, much less crawling in bed with them for 3 million.

The guy's a thief, and the bank exercised poor judgement.

Wikipedia says: Fifth Third's unusual name is the result of the June 1, 1908 merger of two banks, The Fifth National Bank and The Third National Bank, to become The Fifth Third National Bank of Cincinnati.[3] Because the merger took place during a period when prohibitionist ideas were gaining popularity, it was believed that "Fifth Third" was better than "Third Fifth," which could be construed as a reference to three "fifths" of alcohol.[4] The name went through several changes over the years, until on March 24, 1969, the name was changed to Fifth Third Bank. Fifth National? Third National? Wouldn't that merger result in the "Eighth National Bank"? Yeah, I know, kind of dull, LOL.

It really is ashame that he does have to deal with this is such a public way. I mean, from what he is saying the back has been making threats to come and get the horse. Scary. I am sure that he is a smart enough man to have made sure that everything is on the up and up.

I think to be fair you'd have to average them, making it the Fourth National Bank.

Too damn funny. Thanks for the info on Fifth Third, Brian. I was a customer in the past, and never understood the name, until now.

And I do agree, very sad that he is getting threats on the horse. This is going to be our version of the Ana Nicole Smith ordeal.

I think they need to take the horse to court, put him in front of a crying judge, and ask the horse where he wants to go...

The terribly unfortunate thing here, as Cannon said, this guy is a crook. He was a crook before he ever arrived in Lexington.

The whole deal is reminiscent of banks past relationships with the likes of J.T. Lundy and the destruction of Calumet.

I get the feeling that your concept still wouldn't be the strangest "animal in court" story:

Not sure about Great Hunter's level of education though, so the testimony may be a little less eloquent than his canine counterpart.

from what i've read so far, the bank didn't have the horse specifically mentioned as being part of collateral for the loan, or being listed as unsellable because he was collateral. not sure how far this is going to go--but i think the bank has quite a fight on their hands.

And I thank you.
Still an awful name for a bank.

Then again maybe not. If your confused before you walk in, then they can compound the confusion with a complicated loan in their favor. Then again, they dont seem all that crafty.
