Talamo
apprentice jockey Joseph Talamo may be heading to NY but for right now he is in California. I hit a nice $53 horse with him up yesterday. He won 2 on the downhill turf course. It was enough to make me wanna go back today and bet him again.
I think he will dominate in NY simply because there isn't any competition.

There will be plenty of competition when the racing shifts to Belmont. Prado, Velazquez, Cornelio, and Garrett Gomez are all on the way up there and with Coa sticking around you have a solid colony. Talamo will get plenty of mounts because of the 5 lb. bug and because he should be riding a lot for Dutrow.
The jockey colony in NY from Belmont on through the Breeders' Cup is rock solid and very tough to break into in a big way. Talamo has a lot of talent but winning a lot of races won't be easy. NT |

an easy colony to dominate until Belmont starts. I don't see ALL of the jocks listed going to NY. Maybe 3/4ths. I think the bug will get him some good mounts looking for every advantage. He should have options.
anyway.. bet him on the downhill turf at Santa Anita I did and I'm happy with the results.

Congrats on the downhill turf scores, but rest assured, all of the jockeys listed will be riding full-time at Belmont through the summer.

Talamo will ride in So Cal instead
AN HRTV MOMENT: HOT APPRENTICE TALAMO TO RIDE FULL TIME IN CALIFORNIA Joseph Talamo, sensational 17-year-old apprentice who has four wins from 15 mounts (27 percent) in only three days of riding at Santa Anita, told HRTV’s Peter Lurie Sunday morning that he would alter plans and ride at Santa Anita and Southern California full-time rather than take an extended tour of New York as initially announced. “We’ll be back in Southern California within 10 days,” confirmed Talamo’s agent, Ron Ebanks, by phone from New York Sunday morning. “I’m taking the red-eye tonight and will pick Joseph up tomorrow and we’ll map out a plan. We have business in New York starting Wednesday and through next weekend, but after that, we’ll be in California.” http://www.santaanita.com/news/sn.php?f=sunapril12007 |
