Default Handicapping Keeneland, Steve?

In a few days Steve, when Keeneland opens will you be posting handicapping pics for their races each day, as you have Gulfstream's?

Also do many of you handicap Keeneland, as one of your primary meets?

Thank you Hooves. And yes, it can be killer, that's a given.

It's a ton of fun. I can't wait. I had the time of my life during the fall meet. Hopefully the streak continues this Spring!

Man I hope Arlington plays out the same way. It's been very interesting to watch the new track being installed. What's amazing is the backtop/tar base.

Keeneland belongs to Hooves.. The Kentucky Killing Machine.

I'll focus on the Aqueduct main track/lawn and likely Hollywood... Will do KEE stakes and Saturday cards.

I stopped by this morning to see it. Really weird sight. Like a fresh parking lot with a new shiny asphalt surface, but bumpy because of the rocks. I mean it was glistening.

I didn't see anything on the news or the site and when I pulled up on Friday after work and I saw the asphalt I couldn't believe it, I had to research it becuase I thought they were screwing it up.....

Was it really asphalt, or just road base, which is crushed, compacted limerock? This allows for drainage (water can percolate down through the limerock), which I guess is the reason why rain doesn't affect the surface.

it was asphalt like they put on driveways or roads. There is a chunky rock base under that and it looks like they have to fill in about 2-3 feet ontop. They're already filling in with poly on the first turn.

Thanks for that, Pais. It seemed very strange that they would use asphalt, but with 10 inches of poly-stuff on top of it, I guess it's safe.

i used to do well there. but the new surface is a killer. took some getting used to. the track kind of played oppisite of what it was. its kinder to the horses than it was on my wallet. hollywood stayed the same but if you have early speed at keenland for most of the meet it was the kiss of death. i had to stick to the turf because that keenland poly drove me nuts.
