Default last and final Derby wagering strategy

Okay, every year I read and re-read the pps, obsess about what the pundits are saying, and second-guess myself based on the latest impressive work. Enough already. Barring a bad post draw for one of my key horses, this is my plan:

Three trifecta bets, keying Curlin and Any Given Saturday in two of the spots (1st and 2nd, 1st and 3rd, 2nd and 3rd) and going seven to nine horses wide in the third spot. For a $2 unit, this'll cost about $100, give or take, but the Derby trifecta pay-outs are always way generous.

I know many think Curlin's had it too easy and that he'll fold like a cheap suit when he gets roughed up and has some dirt kicked in his face, but, call me a sucker, I think he really is that good.

As for AGS, he's one tough s.o.b., and I think he'll fight to get there in the end.

Wait a sec, let me see what Haskin has to say...

Haskin will say: He made a grand appearance on the track. This horse is really an gorgeous specimen with a dappled coat and a good eye. His move over the field this morning was just what they wanted

Of course, Haskin will say this about 15 of the 20 horses entered.
